He's great in the house and doesn't get into anything; listens well; goes in the crate when needed without a fuss but does great uncrated if left alone; gets along great with my Mals and Arnold the cat! His weight management program is going well and we even think he's lost a pound or two already? We're going to go for a weigh in soon. Bear does love to sleep on the couch so he'll need someone that doesn't mind that :) Check out his sleeping pictures below! He's a really good boy and is fast becoming a favorite of mine. Bear has always been shy of some men and there isn't a pattern like I thought so it's pretty much random with him. He's finally picked up on my dog's routines and has fit right in with them. I couldn't had asked for a more perfect foster. See all pictures in Bear's album here!

Bear is 35lbs overweight! Rick and Delilah started him on weight management food and reduced him down to 2 cups per day. So far he is doing well with it and not raiding the kitchen cabinets or fridge so we think he’s not starving? He is getting 2 walks a day during the week. On weekends, Bear gets 2 walks a day and a visit to the dog park to run and play off leash. He seems to really enjoy his walks and the dog park. In addition to that, the WWF matches are back so we’re hoping a few extra calories are also being burned there too!! So I guess you can call this Bear’s Weight Management Program and he’s got his own personal trainers too! See some of Bear taking a walk below:

Bear was reaquainted with Miki, Buck, Bessie, and Arnold the cat today. It seems they have picked up where they left off and are doing good with each other. They went on a walk together and then later to the dog park. Woo Hoo! They all love going to the dog park. WWF matches have even picked up again.

Due to the ongoing economy crisis and a family change, Bear has lost his home. He was returned to TAMR and we made sure he had a good welcome committee waiting for him; Auntie Margie, Rick, and Delilah all met at the hand off. Bear was happy to see us all. Rick and Delilah decided that they were going to take him back home with them so that he could return to a familiar place. The concern of course was his emotional state due to losing his home. Bear came back 35lbs over weight! He is a BIG boy now. He also has been shaved. YIKES! Shaving a Malamute is not recommended. Bear got a Vet check up and then went home with Rick and Delilah to get re-acquainted with all their furry ones again. He has settled back in really well and everyone is getting along just fine. See pictures of Bear’s welcome back and visit at the Vets below:

After time Bear got better but still remained scared in certain situations so he earned the nickname Scary Bear. Bear was also shy around some men so that was something to keep observing. We think Bear may have abused in his past life.

Bear was fostered in November 2007 by Rick and Delilah H.. He instantly had 3 dog buddies (and 1 cat buddy) including 2 other Mals to play with and that they did. Bear, Buck, and Miki would have WWF matches in the living room for whoever would watch them. Bear got to go to parks where he could run his little heart out. He was so fast. He loved to snuggle on a couch if it was available or with you if you were available! Bear did very well in a house. He was housetrained; crate trained, and got along with dogs and cats.

While he was being fostered sometimes Bear got to go along on home visits and checks. On one of the visits, the folks fell in love with Bear and he liked them too. Rick and Delilah at first thought maybe not yet because Bear was still very skinny and had to gain weight but the folks were sure that this was the right Mal for them. So Bear found a home and we wished him happily ever after. We would check in on Bear every once in awhile and he was doing well. We got to see him at the calendar shoot for the 2009 Calendar. He looked like a different dog! He had gained some weight and seemed happy. See his calendar pictures here.
